Spurs tell Real Madrid to cough up £20 million for England international
Tottenham have today informed Spanish giants Real Madrid they will need to cough up £20 million to have any chance of signing Aaron Lennon. The England international has been strongly linked with a move to the La Liga club since Juande Ramos' arrival at the Bernabeu earlier this week and now Spurs have set their price.
Lennon, 21, has had an inconsistent time at White Hart Lane since his £1 million move from Leeds United back in 2005. He has made over 130 appearances for the North London club, scoring 11 goals in the process. Former Spurs boss Juande Ramos has been linked with several Spurs players since becoming the Real Madrid manager on Monday, however Lennon is now understood to be his number one target.
Now that Spurs have told Real to cough up such a massive amount, I don't foresee them making any move for the player. £20 million is way too much to be spending on a player, who for me has yet to show his best form in the Premier League. He is young and has a lot of potential, however until he shows that potential on the biggest stage, I don't feel he can be valued at the ridiculous price which Spurs have put on him.
Real will definitley have to pay more than £4 million if they want to get their hands on Lennon, but you won't. Yes the pacey winger costs just that in this season's "You the Manager" and may be worth a look. So follow the link below to be in with a chance of winning some terrific weekly and monthly prizes.
