Arsenal to join Chelsea, United and Spurs in the race to sign £20 million playmaker

Arsenal are ready to join Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham in the race to sign Zenit St Petersburg playmaker Andrei Arshavin. The Russian international has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League in recent days after he admitted he would be interested in a move to either Chelsea or United, however Arsenal are now preparing to snatch the 27-year old from under their rivals noses.

Spurs nearly signed Arshavin in the summer but Zenit's demands of £24 million for the player ended the possibility of any move, however the North London club are still keen on bringing the player to White Hart Lane. Arshavin really sprung to fame during Russia's Euro 2008 campaign where they reached the semi-finals, with Arshavin undoubtedly their best player in the tournament.

With Luis Filipe Scolari, Sir Alex Ferguson, Harry Redknapp and now Arsene Wenger all interested, this could be a very interesting battle indeed. Arshavin is a quality player and would definitley improve any of the four sides in question. I personally don't care who he joins, as long as he moves to the Premier League because I would love to see how he would adapt to the pace of English football.

So where will Arshavin be when the transfer window closes? Place your votes in the poll on the top right of the site.
