Spurs and Toffees keep tabs on England winger

According to today's Daily Express, Middlesbrough winger Stewart Downing could be on his way out of the club, with Tottenham and Everton both vying for his signature.

The 23-year old has been having contract talks with Boro officials for some time but as yet nothing has been sorted and Downing is said to be growing deeply frustrated with the situation.

Spurs made an £8 million offer for to Boro for Downing during the summer but that was turned down but the club are still said to be interested along with Everton.

Downing's current contract is due to run out in 2010 but many people feel he may be on his way sooner rather than later. I personally feel Downing should leave the Riverside and join someone else because I have to admit, although he hasn't shown his top form this season, he's too good for Boro, with all due respect.

"with all due respect" , if boro sell all their many good young english palyers to teams outside the top four we will never get anywhere. Downing won't leave until giggs retires and man u come in for him, akll the rest is just public contract mangling spin from his agent.
