Man City ruining football? ... Give me a break

Before I start writing this, I'll just let you all know I'm a City fan.

I have heard and seen many things said and written about Manchester City in recent months and I must admit, I'm sick of it. Yesterday I saw some quotes from the chairman of Danish side FC Copenhagen (who City face in the last 32 of the UEFA Cup on Thursday) about how City are destroying football and all that crap. It seems as though everyone in the world has to have a go at City nowadays.

Yes, the club are spending a lot of money and why shouldn't they. If someone buys your club and gives you millions to spend, your not just going to let it sit their, your going to spend it. So when Mark Hughes and other City officials decide they want to try and bring one of the world's most exciting talents in Kaka to the club, they aren't applauded for their efforts. No, they are criticised.

That just doesn't make sense. OK, you can argue that the sums of money involved were a bit over the top but why shouldn't they go over the top, they have the resources to do that.

Another person who, is never short of a something to say, is now having a go at City is Michel Platini. The president of UEFA is threatening to ban City from European competitions if they fail to "respect their budget". Like, come on, what does that even mean?

During their pursuit of AC Milan's Kaka the club was widely criticised for bidding such a ridiculous amount (£107 million) on the player when the country was (and unfortunately still is) going through a recession. Why should the Arabian investors be criticised for spending so much money on a player instead of pumping it into the economy.

They bought City for one reason. To make the club the best in the world and to do that, obviously you need a great deal of money. They're not going to spend the money on building schools and fixing hospitals, why would they, yet still they are criticised for spending so much money.

The world of football is just a little bit jealous. City have money and like it or not they will become a force to be reckoned with in European football in years to come. RANT OVER

Maybe we would be with our 11 all star mercenaries, sitting pretty 20 points at the top of the table and embarking on winning the champions league with our reserve side, but were not and theres a long way to go till were breaking into the top 4 and into Europe (on our own merit).

The real concern for other clubs is an over inflated transfer market, and agents throwing City's name around to hasten deals.

What annoys me though, we were willing to spend 100m on Kaka yet we were too stubborn to offer a couple more million for santa cruz. We have to accept we are going to have to bid a little more simply because were City, especially at the moment with money seemingly the only incentive to sign, because lets face it, there are no trophies in sight.

According to the people in Fleet Street (the street of shame), BBC 5live especially Alan (I'm not really a red) Green, FIFA, UEFA, the Pope, Satan, the lady who does the school dinners for my grandchildren, and many other experts, City are responsible for ruining football, famine, pestilence, global warming, the next ice age, cancer, and the price of a pint.

This is, as anyone with any sense knows total, unadulterated bs. When United spend millions upon milions running up a MASSIVE debt, near on a billion,to ensure their dominance of club competition, do you hear a peep? No

When "get Real" Madrid offer huge amounts to sign Ronaldo do you hear anything about them ruining football, do you hear a thing? No.

Do you hear any criticism of A C Milan for wanting to take City money? No, even though apparently a figure hadn't been agreed. Still lets not let the facts get in the way of a good story shall we.

More importantly who at City is managing all of this because if its Cook and Aldrige they don't have a clue.

I would like to say, man city have a nice stadium but why dont they spend some of their money on a new stadium that topps all others and hire a really well known manager. Also they should spend their momey on unknown talents like Thiago Silva not world-wide know talents like Kaka and Gerrard if they signed less known players then people would not say they are ruining football because they would not be taking the big stars out of the big teams, if they slowley build up over the next 3 or 4 years and break into the top 4 and challenge for the title and then maybe the premier league will have a big 5 so the league improves and becomes the best league in the world for a lot longer, as long as they dont dign players that mean so much to each club they will not be critisezed.

Wow that was like a speach! :)

city are a joke, hughes is a shit manager, and can only buy there way to the top because they dont have the talent or brains to build a team without it.
it should not be allowed and i hope it backfires because the top quality players that city have signed are not there to play football, they are all there for the same reason, they are all greedy c***s.
there is no other explanation to why players would step down.
players will become unhappy also and the morale of the team will i should imagine be very poor.
i do not agree with the wages either, i think the FA should introduce a wage cap rule.
i admire teams like villa, everton, fulham, hull, stoke etc
the sort of teams that fight with team spirit.
im sorry city fans i know it might be exciting times for you, but i dont think hughes is the man.
i hear people saying that city will break top for, i have even heard someone say they are better then manu (obviously not good on there history). point is i cant be the only person that thinks they will struggle even for a spot in europe next season.
i still think everton, villa and spurs will finish above city.
so if you ask me WHAT A ****** WASTE OF MONEY.
i cant wait for the new season to kickoff just for the fact that i know city will do s**t and it might shut you crazy ambitious thinking dumb**s city fans up.
i predict city to finish no higher then 7th.
