Spurs to make surprise January move for former Arsenal target? Would be a terrific signing
Tottenham could make a surprise January move for Newcastle United keeper Shay Given after Spurs boss Harry Redknapp admitted he would be interested if the player became available. The Republic of Ireland international was previously linked with a move to Arsenal but for whatever reason he is still a Newcastle player, but could that be about to change?
Well with Redknapp keen to add to his goalkeeping options after watching Heurelho Gomes concede five goals in the three games he has been at the club, a move for Given could become a reality. Redknapp told the Daily Mail : "Shay Given is a great goalkeeper who I admire. Any manager would have to be interested in him if he became available,"
The 32-year old has made over 450 appearances for The Magpies and I personally feel he may opt for a change of club come the new year. He is without doubt one of the best keepers in the Premier League and I think Redknapp would be doing exceptionally well to bring Given to White Hart Lane. If Spurs were to bid somewhere between 8 or 10 million, Newcastle may just be tempted to accept.
