Liverpool's title ambitions dealt a severe blow
Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel could face up to six months on the sidelines after injuring himself in his sides 3-2 victory away at Manchester City yesterday. The Slovakian international has become a first team regular at Anfield in recent months, keeping Danish defender Daniel Agger out of the squad in the process.
Skrtel, 23, was stretchered off near the end of the game at Eastlands yesterday with suspected posterior cruciate ligament damage to his right knee. "He will see a specialist on Tuesday to assess the extent of the injury," said club spokesman Ian Cotton. "We will then have an accurate idea of the timescales involved before he is back playing again."
This is obviously a massive blow for Reds boss Rafa Benitez. Skrtel has been one of Liverpool's best players this season and has helped the side to it's best start in the Premier League for several years. This could mean a run in the team for out-of-favour defender Daniel Agger and I certainly am looking forward to seeing the big Dane hopefully return to his form of two years ago.
