Berbatov move Spurred by Corluka arrival
Tottenham are certainly getting busy on deadline day. They have completed the signings of both Roman Pavlyuchenko and Vedran Corluka after weeks of speculation over the players' future. In total this has set back Spurs a massive £22 million, but it looks increasingly likely that the club will recuperate (and then some!) with the sale of one Dimitar Berbatov - but to which club exactly remains to be seen: Man United or rivals Man City?
Corluka was close to signing for the North London club earlier this summer when it was speculated that the Croatian international had already agreed terms and passed a medical. Now the 23-year old has put pen to paper over a six-year deal at White Hart Lane, after Man City accepted a £8.5 million bid for him.
But with Corluka in, this could, I repeat could, see Dimitar Berbatov heading in the other direction. Yes, the Bulgarian international is understood to be the subject of a bid in excess of £30 million from Mark Hughes' City. Berbatov has been linked with a move to City's rivals Man United all summer but know after the incredible take over of City by Arab investors, it is almost impossible to tell what side of Manchester he will ply his trade for the rest of the season.
It is understood that in the last hour or so, the 28-year old left his home near White Hart Lane for Stanstead Airport. More news on this story and more as deadline day unfolds here at Football Corner.
