Spurs line up England £10 million winger !

Spurs have renewed their intereset in Middlesbrough midfielder Stewart Downing according to reports on Sky Sports this afternoon.

The England international is reportedly unhappy at the Riverside, after Boro were booed off, following several disappointing performances, and that has led to intense speculation over Downing's future.

Spurs are favourites to sign the winger in a deal worth either a £10 million fee or an exchange deal which would see Jermain Defoe being swapped for both Adam Johnson and Downing.

Defoe has also been the centre of attention in recent days after Juande Ramos reportedly told the striker that he is no longer wanted by the club. I personally feel that the exchange deal would be the better option for both sides as Defoe would be put to much more use in Gareth Southgate's side.
