Real join Liverpool in the race to sign African star
Real Madrid have today joined Liverpool in the race to sign Ghanian defender Daniel Opare.
The player was voted the best defender in the recent under-17 World Cup and has attracted the interests of both Rafa Benitez and Bernd Schuster.
Opare will take part in the forthcoming African Cup of Nations after been selected to represent Ghana, a terrific achievement for such a young player.
I have heard rave reviews about this kid and with a £1.5 million release clause from his contract with club side Ashanti Gold SC, he clearly has a lot of talent. He has been compared by some as the next Cafu, high praise for such a young player.
I personally love to see him join Liverpool, simply because I will get to see more of his play, but when Madrid come in for a player they very rarely fail to land their target.

Liverpool have an arrangement with Ashanti Gold which should give them first refusal on any of their players. Still, it remains to be seen what the player wants.
