£15 million Spurs pair could be on their way out of the club

According to today's Daily Star, Aston Villa are planning a double raid on Tottenham by making a £15 million bid for both Jermain Defoe and Pascal Chimbonda.

The pair are both said to be nearing the exit door at White Hart Lane after Defoe was told he could leave and Chimbonda unhappy with the club about their January signings.

Villa boss Martin O'Neill has always held a keen interest in Defoe and many believe Defoe will join the midlands club as long as Manchester City don't come in for him.

Chimbonda joined Spurs two seasons ago and has impressed in his right-back role, but after manager Juande Ramos apparently told him he would be playing centre-back in future he laughed at him.

It is unclear yet wheter or not Juande Ramos will be willing to let Chimbonda go but I could definitely see Defoe joining Villa. I feel Defoe should be playing regular football and I think he'd be a real hit at Villa Park.

not only do we have to endure your news flashes half a day after everyone else has reported them, but we also get your thoughts at the end of each piece. please don't!! you come across as an expert in the field but having followed your articles for a couple of months now, you really do not know what you are talking about half the time!! just concentrate on bringing in the news or if you want to add your opinion and thoughts, write something original that people can chew over.... not a rehash of the daily mail online stories!!!!

Makes a change from reading all the 'absurd' Berbatov stories, to read that Spurs are selling the rest of the squad. Defoe will only be sold if he refuses to sign the new contract and as he's just sacked his agent, Sky Arsenal... sorry, that's the TV Show... Sky Andrews, it looks like the new deal is close to completion. Some journalists can't get their heads around the fact that Spurs have just landed a top quality manager and are looking to sign more top quality players. Jealousy? Surely not.
