Elano joined Manchester City in the summer from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk for a fee of £8 million. Sven Goran Eriksson signed him as part of his redevelopment plans at Manchester City after the club were taking over by foreign investors. Elano is a Brazilian international and scored twice when Brazil played Argentina in Wembley last year.
Elano has made an immediate impact at the City of Manchester stadium, quickly becoming a fan favourite. His link up play with the City midfield and attack has been splendid and is definitely a candidate for player of the season so far. He is City's top scorer this season with five goals in all competitions and has contributed in no small part to the club's terrific start to this Premier League season.
