United and Liverpool chase Argentine ace !!!
Manchester United and Liverpool have today been linked with a move for Racing Santander defender Ezequiel Garay. The Guardian report that either side will have to cough up at least £10 million to stand a chance of landing the 21-year old.
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has reportedly put a defender as his main priority in the January transfer window and Garay is said to be his first target.
The player can play at either centre back or right back and those are positions that both clubs probably need to look at. For United, they need a right back to be a long term replacement for captain Gary Neville who is now 32. The player is highly regarded in Argentina and made his international debut back in August.
Both Liverpool and United are likely to face stiff competition from Real Madrid and Juventus for the players signature. This signing for Liverpool may spell the end of Sami Hyypia at Anfield because he is now 35 and many people think Benitez will try and replace him in the side come January.

Garay looks like an interesting prospect and United have been linked for a while now. However, it will be interesting to see if they do actually move for him as they are well blessed with centre halves, however Liverpool is a more intriguing option as Sami Hyypia is already nearing the end and Carragher is no spring chicken.
