Is Benitez Crazy ???
What is Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez doing? He has today cleared the way for keeper Scott Carson to leave the club permanently. The player who is currently on loan at Aston Villa, who is in my view England's best keeper, is set to sign for the Midlands side for £10 million. Carson is only 22-years old and in my view will be England's number one for the next World Cup qualifying campaign.
I understand that Liverpool have Jose Pepe Reina as their number one but they are making a real mistake letting Carson go. The player is set to make his international debut tomorrow and I think it may convince England boss Steve McClaren to start him in next Wednesday's crucial qualifier against Croatia.
I really think Benitez will regret this decision in a few years time and Villa will reap the benefits.

Doubt it!! Reina is still very young too and is light years ahead of Carson in quality IMO.
Carson wants first team football and he will not get it as long as Reina is there so Rafa has little option but to let him leave.
& at a nice tidy profit of just over 9mill.
Good buisness all round IMO.

It's not easy being No.2 as a goalkeeper if you're as good as carson. If Benitez tries to force him to stay, there will probably be a lot of bad blood between Carson and the club and when his contract runs out, he certainly won't re-sign. I suppose Benitez would rather just cash in on him instead now since he is very adamant on first-team football (and he certainly deserves it too).

Another quite overrated English player. Never in the world worth 10M and a big big question if he'll ever be. Doesn't mean a lot that you're England's first choice ...

totally agree, Rafa im sure would love to keep him as his number two but he is better than that and reina is not that old. Cashing in is good business and most importantly good for carson and england because we could really do with a good keeper!

totally agree with everyone bar the previous moron.

Benitez is a pure genius for getting as much as £10 mill for a hugely overrated player.

With CL 2nd round impossible, RM10million can help us secure Masch contract or a CB.
Carson was 1 mil and now we get him for 10 mil, now that's super investment.
I think he's overrated since he's English. Cash him in. Ding Ding!!!

Look at it this way, the only way we can have good money to spend is to sell.
So the question now is who to sell, a couple of players (Midfielders) who plays 20-30 games a season for £10m or one who plays none in the normal course of things.
Then any player we sell we have to find a replacement and a decent outfield replacement will cost alot, a decent backup keeper can cost £1m.
So I say sell and use the money

Haha. Crazy?
Just goes to show that there is a war being waged against the great man. He's set to make the club some £8million profit on an overrated player and he's being called crazy.
Unbelievable.

The point that he's English makes complicates things. Especially when a certain UEFA wants to limit the number of foreign players, Carson might come in nicely. Stuck between a rock and a hard place. Haha.
