England team news from goalkeeper to forwards

Steve McClaren it seems will choose the inform Scott Carson ahead of the experienced Paul Robinson. It also appears as though the England boss will opt for Shaun Wright-Phillips ahead of former England captain, David Beckham.

Despite Carson only appearing once for the England first team, McClaren obviously believes that Robinson is too big a risk. Paul Robinson may also be on edge over the last time the two sides met when a freak incident saw the ball bobble over his foot.

It seems as though Beckham will have to wait a few more games before he reaches the big 100, as Wright Phillips looks set to start on the right of what is a probable 5-man midfield.Gareth Barry looks like he'll be the holding player giving Gerrard and Lamps some freedom to get forward. Peter Crouch is expected to start up front alone.

Steve McClaren has warned his players to remember what happened against Greece in 2001 and has pleaded to them not to let it go down to the wire this time around. And whats this? Support for Steve McClaren. After a survey for the BBC's Inside Sport, it seems that fans have backed the 46 year old to stay on as England coach and blamed the players for recent poor performances... That's ironic because somehow I don't think it would be the England players getting the chop should they not qualify tonight.
