Canaries capture Calum

Tootenham defnder Calum Davenport has joined Championship side Norwich on a three month loan deal. Spurs manager Martin Jol has allowed Davenport to follow Paul Ifil out of White Hart Lane on a temporary basis, with the giant centre half heading to Norfolk for the next three months. Canaries boss Nigel Worthington has been scouring the market for a new centre half and beat off some strong competition to land the 23 year old.

"I'm delighted that we have got Calum Davenport on a three-month loan," Worthington told the club's website. "He is a player that we have been working on getting in for a few weeks and he will add experience and quality to our current group of players." Davenport is looking to take his chance and aid Norwich in their quest to return to The Premiership. "I haven't been playing football at Spurs so I'm delighted to be coming to Norwich to hopefully play some games," said the 22-year-old. "Norwich are a big club and hopefully I can help them achieve what everyone wants them to achieve - promotion to The Premiership."

Davenport is a good player and this loan deal will do him the world of good. He has struggled to break into the Spurs starting eleven but this loan deal could help him find his real potential. This is a good deal for Norwich because it is a loan deal and they don't have to pay a penny for a good young centre back.
