Terrific Spurs end Liverpool's unbeaten run

Tottenham continued their magnificent form under new manager Harry Redknapp this evening claiming all three points against Premier League high-flyers Liverpool. Spurs came from a goal behind to end Liverpool's unbeaten run in all competitions this season and also lift them off the bottom of the table.

Dirk Kuyt got the visitors off to the perfect start, putting them ahead after just three minutes with a stunning strike from a very acute angle after some neat play by ex-Spurs favourite Robbie Keane. At this stage it was clear for everyone to see that Spurs were struggling and could of found themselves even further behind minutes later when Darren Bent saw his clearance hit his own post.

Liverpool probably should of killed the game off soon after the break when Reds captain Steven Gerrard saw his deflected effort tipped onto the bar by Heurelho Gomes in the Spurs goal. However Spurs began to come into the game soon after the Liverpool pressure and they grabbed an equaliser through Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher who headed into his own net with just twenty minutes remaining.

The home side looked the likeliest winners following the goal and so it proved. Summer signing Roman Pavlyuchenko grabbed a late late winner after Jose Pepe Reina could only palm a David Bentley shot to Darren Bent who laid the ball to the Russian striker who duly finished. Terrific result for Spurs. They really deserved the victory even though Liverpool had several chances to wrap up the match at the start of the second half.

Elsewhere it finished : Chelsea 5-0 Sunderland, Everton 1-0 Fulham, Man United 4-3 Hull, Middlesbrough 1-1 West Ham, Portsmouth 1-2 Wigan, Stoke 2-1 Arsenal, West Brom 2-2 Blackburn.
