Huge relief for Liverpool fans
Liverpool fans travelling to next week's Champions League game against Atletico Madrid next week can breath a huge sigh of relief this evening. UEFA have decided to temporarily lift the ban which they had given Atletico earlier this week which would of prevented the side from playing their next two European games on home soil.
Many Liverpool fans were left fuming on Tuesday after it was announced that the game was to be moved to a different stadium almost 200 miles away from the Vicente Calderon. However, UEFA have decided to accept Atletico's appeal which leaves them free to host Rafa Benitez' men next Wednesday.
Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry told the club's website: "We're delighted at the decision because it means our fans can travel to the game as previously planned without additional expense or inconvenience. "Liverpool are grateful for the help the FA have provided and pleased Uefa have listened to and acted on the arguments we put forward this week."
