Liverpool midfielder heading for Milan to fund move for England ace

Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso has today been linked with a £15 million move to Italian giants AC Milan. The Spanish international has been linked with a move away from Anfield all summer after it was claimed Benitez had to offload Alonso to fund a move for Gareth Barry.

Alonso was close to joining Juventus earlier in the summer but Liverpool asked for too much, with Juve only prepared to pay £12 million. Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti is keen to add to his midfield options after signing Arsenal midfielder Matthieu Flamini in June.

If a deal is done which sees Alonso leave the Merseyside club, that will inevitably lead to Benitez spending the cash on Aston Villa captain Gareth Barry. The England international has been linked with a move to the club all summer, but as yet nothing has happened.

I firmly believe Liverpool are better off holding onto Alonso and not buying Barry. Alonso has been, and still is a great asset to the club and I feel Benitez hasn't used the 25-year old to his advantage because he is a super player on his day and every Reds fan knows that.

Whoever wrote this article is either a blind fool or not a liverpool fan who just want us to win nothig!! Why??
Coz, saying alonso is an asset to liverpool, you must be dreamig.. chekc the stats o the following website and see for yourselves How may goals or assists does Alonso has:
    http://www.premierleague.com/page/Statistics/0,,12306,00.html
Is alonso better tha barry? NO WAY!! Check the professioal's judgement on Actim stats:

Now compare the most recent games of both of them, ALonso did not provided a single good freekick or corner delivery, and 75% of his passes were give to opponents when we played Stadard liege.. and the very next day, Barry scores the opener for Villa as well as doing a perfect holdig midfield job.
Barry is versatile, can play in 4 different position, what about alonso, he is not fit for a single one!!
Even 10 million is a good price for alonso.. he brings nothig plus to the team. its gerrard who's been doing the creating job and mascherano the holding job.
We lost heavily to ManU last season coz Alonso could not do the job mascherano was doig before he was sent off.
Even against milan we were 3-0 down before Hamann came on the field, and it was thanks to gerrard we won that match, Alonso just took a penalty which he could not even score properly at first attemp and had to rely on the rebound!
Can you now list in which season did alonso provided more than 5 assists?? more than 5 goals?? more than 5 free kicks or corner delivery?
Come to the real world, we'll win nothing with players like Alonso and Kuyt!

at least one fan thinks like me!!!!!!!! We lost against manure last season because of alonso could not sholder his responsibilities and ronaldo scored a header while alonso was supposed to mark him! He is toooo slow and dreasm tooo much on the field and his passes are become shit!!!!!!! Get rid of him and get Barry!! He is a captain and will help gerrad shoulder the responsibilities in the midfield!

I think you'll find a lot of Liverpool fans, me included are running out of patience with Alonso. He seems to lack the mental strength to compete in the Premiership, even though he does have the ability. When games get tough and we're getting closed down quickly he goes missing in games, especially in the last 18 months. We don't need stats to prove that, w've seen it often lately with our own eyes.
If Rafa wants Barry then we should get him, because Barry is a good player in the Prem and more suited to it.
