City make £7 million bid for United striker

Hull City have today made a £7 million bid for Manchester United striker Frazier Campbell. The England under-21 international spent much of last season on loan at the KC Stadium but now City boss Phill Brown is eager to sign Campbell on a permanent deal.

The 20-year old started United's first game of the new season at home to Newcastle, stuggling to make a huge impact. It is understood that United boss Sir Alex Ferguson will only let Campbell go if he finds a replacement for him before the close of the window on Monday.

With Saha already out the door at Old Trafford, I feel this deal will only go through if Dimitar Berbatov arrives at the club. If United were to let Campbell go they would only be left with Rooney and Tevez as their two recognised strikers.

I personally think Campbell and indeed Hull will benefit from this move. Campbell would be guaranteed first team football every week and Hull will have a top young striker to help keep them in the Premier League. One word of caution though, I think £7 million is a massive price to be paying for someone who hasn't got much Premier League experience.
