Spurs to move for £10 million Chelsea midfielder

Tottenham are to make a £10 million bid for Chelsea midfielder Shaun Wright-Phillips after the player admitted he wanted to leave Stamford Bridge. The England international has been linked with dozens of exits from the London club in recent months as speculation has grown that he will quit this summer. (Daily Mirror)

Wright-Phillips, 26, has never really nailed down a first team place at Chelsea since his £21 million move from Manchester City three years ago. It had been widely speculated that he would join Spurs last summer for a fee of around £12 million but for whatever reason nothing ever materialised.

I really hope that Shaun quits Chelsea this summer. There is absolutely no point in sitting on the bench week in week out. Wright-Phillips is a terrific player who I feel would benefit tremendously from joining up with Juande Ramos' men. I also think if he were to move to Spurs Fabio Capello would get a much better look at him.

I'd love to see SWP at the lane purely for Ian Wright to see his "son" in a spurs shirt. Worth the 10m just for that :)

In all seriousness he is a v good player and could only enhance the squad giving Lennon some much needed competition.

He's linked with Spurs every window, Chelsea would never sell him to us (or anyone else for that matter), it's a non starter!

In regard to SWP - yeah buy him to larf at 'is Dad :-D
Really, though, would like to see him as competition for Lennon.
Be surprised if Chelsea big-wigs sanction too many departures BEFORE they have a new manager in place!
