Liverpool lead Inter in race to sign £15 million Portuguese midfielder

Liverpool are leading Inter Milan in the race to sign Porto midfielder Ricardo Quaresma. Reds boss Rafa Benitez has been a long-term admirer of the player and he is willing to bid as much as £15 million for the Portuguese international. (fansfc)

Quaresma is more than likely to leave the Portuguese this summer after it was confirmed yesterday that the club have been thrown out of next seasons Champions League after Porto were accused of match fixing. The 24-year old is also wanted by Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho, who used to work with the player at Porto.

I personally would prefer to see Quaresma play in England. On his day, he is a terrific wide-midfield player that would scare any wing-backs in the Premier League. I must admit, Quaresma can sometime be one of the most overrated players in the world, but all in all I feel he would only strengthen the Liverpool squad.

Got to be Ribery for the right but I reckon Rafa would sway towards Bentley. Not sure on Quaresma, sure he has the tricks and pace but he blows more hot than cold (remember him against us in Europe last season?)But i'll eat my words if he does come and turns out to be another C.Ronaldo. Maybe David Silva could do a job for us? Then there's Kranjcar is proven quality in the premiership and would be a smart buy.
