Owen set for return to Merseyside?

Newcastle United striker Michael Owen may quit the club at the end of the season if they try to cut his wages, alerting the attentions of Everton. (Daily Mail)

Owen, 28, spent several years at Everton's Merseyside rivals Liverpool and has been linked with a move back to Anfield in the past.

Owen has struggled to show anything like the kind of form he did at Liverpool at St James' Park which has led to intense speculation he may leave the club this summer.

The England international is apparently about to be offered a new deal at Newcastle but their is talk that the club will significantly lower his wages, something which Owen isn't to pleased about.

I personally don't see Owen leaving the Magpies in the summer but stranger things have happened. Their is no doubt, on his day, Owen is one of the best strikers in Europe but unfortunately for him it hasn't quite happened in recent years.
