Amazing scandal in aftermath of Arsenal V Liverpool game!!!!

During tonight's Champions League tie between Arsenal and Liverpool, Arsene Wenger felt Dutch referee, Peter Vink, should of awarded a penalty against Dirk Kuyt after he appeared to of pulled Alexander Hleb down in the box.

It has now emerged that the Referee was actually born just five miles from fellow countryman Dirk Kuyt, the player who brought down Hleb. Coincidence or what??

he was a good ref, not a penalty for me, hleb overexaggerated and could have stayed on his feet if he wanted to work hard, but gave in to the luxury of a penalty, and got what he deserved, nothing,

  7. I'm an Arsenal fan. I believe Hleb dived INTO Kuyt. He has started doing that a lot lately (he tried and got booked against Villa, he tried and got a penalty against Bolton, he tried and failed against Liverpool).

The ref was excellent. Really, really outstanding.

Are you all blind? Never saw a more certain penalty. And Hleb's penalty against Bolton was also a 100% penalty, Mr. "I am an Arsenal Fan". Who do you think you're fooling?

For Andy Gray to have said it was a penalty it had to have been - he never gives anything to Arsenal.

I also thought Torres was disgraceful in his behaviour. I always thought he was a fair player until I see him tonight. Feining injury and trying to get other professionals booked he should have been booked himself.

I've heard people say recently that Torres is the best in the world, and I have to agree - DIVER that is. The man is a disgrace. He could be a decent player if he stayed on his feet, but he's cheating scum who deserves to win nothing (which is what he'll get with Wimberpool anyway).

Great result for Liverpool. 1-1 away in Emerites sets the rhythm for next week.

Whether it was a penalty or not, even if 1 million of you gave it, it wasn't given by the person who decides it - the Ref - bad luck to you guys but good luck for us and Kuyt - super goal btw.

Arsenal had loads of possession but again having problems with converting them into goals.

Andy Gray is an Evertonian, so if he says penalty against Liverpool, he is lying.

By the way, Brendtner is a Liverpudian in disguise. Thanks to him, we were playing 13 men vs 10 (ref included). Brendtner was a bystander the whole game but made to count when he blocked a goal bound kick from Fabregas, thanks Brendtner - you gave us the advantage.p

I think it should've been a penalty, easily. The worst bit was how close the ref was to it, he must have clearly seen it.

As for Torres diving, I only noticed it once but it's a shame. Ronaldo was at it the other night too, and it does make me think he'd be a lot better if he'd just fight for the ball instead. It's funny because if these guys DID fight for the ball and stay on their feet more, they'd probably score a lot more goals and/or set more up.

Dear me. You really should learn your English. You see, the referee shouldn't "of awarded" a penalty, he should HAVE awarded a penalty because Dirk Kuyt didn't appear "to of pulled" Hleb. He appeared to HAVE pulled Hleb. The word is HAVE. HAVE HAVE HAVE HAVE HAVE!!! Not OF!!! HAVE!!! Got it? I bloody hope so. Oh, yes, it should've been a penalty and yes, the referee's home town is a coincidence.

Look at that incident when Liverpool played Chelsea and the ref gave a penalty to Chelsea for taking a Liverpool player out. Bottom line is Benitez is the master tatician in Europe and showed this again last night.

I watch Torres nearly every week and he gets battered and bruised, but always carries on putting his body on the line, making challenges, chasing down defenders, tirelessly running. He did go down fairly easily under Flamini’s challenge but so did Hleb for the penalty attempt. Well done all the fans pointing out if there is one team that can’t complain about diving it’s Arsenal. And I think to claim Torres is a diver is absolutely ludicrous and pathetically hypocritical.

all in all it was a good game. Arsenall shold have done more, and if you want to win this competition you ought to be relying on a little more than a decision going your way in the box from the ref. Frankly, Arsenal should have bagged at least one more goal. they were unlucky not to. but Liverpool were good enough to earn theirs, regardless of what Wenger might whinge and moan about them not creating as many chances. Shots on and off target seemed to suggest differently. Hleb goes down too easily for the peno to be given. Ref is left in two minds. That incident aside he had a great game, and it would have been nice to see both managers congratulating him for that. But no, they can't give credit where it's due. How do they expect to get a more understanding judge next time if they are going to get criticised for their one alleged mistake, and not the hundred other decisions that he got spot on. He let the game flow, avoided unnecessary cautions, and has contributed to an entertaining game of football - congratulations to the ref for that.

I'm bored of footballers and managers whinging. Kuyt's response seemed more honest to me. I'd prefer that every weekend.

    A. to be giving your opinion is testament of being subjective, not objective, and I haven't enough time to be debating on cyberspace without the proper analysis tools i.e video footage, interviews etc.

    B. you cannot be a baller (or a good one) as when your as gifted as Hleb in ball dribbling at speed, all it takes is minimal contact to knock you out of stride let alone when a STRIKER TURNED DEFENDER wraps his arms around you and calls it a tackle, NEWSFLASH, by the letter of the law that is a foul my friend , no matter how exaggerated Hleb was in falling!
btw what penalty claim on Torres..HaHa!

Arsenal have their claims about how Hleb was brought down, similarly, Liverpool also has valid claims about Torres being brought down. We shouldn't do some after-game whining (on both sides) as the result is already set. There's nothing whining could have done to change it. In my opinion, Liverpool and Arsenal played in the true spirit of the sport, and we should probably leave the whining to the Mancs and Chelskis.

The ref was great. No cards, and he let the game flow. As for the "penalty", I've seen them given for that, but more often I've seen them not given. Arsenal have only themselves to blame - they had a lot more of the ball but did nothing with it. And liverpool always looked dangerous on the break.
after getting rid of the constant whinging from Moaninho and his "ghost goal" from the 2005 semi (even though the ref himself had stated that if the goal had not stood, he'd have given a penalty and sent Cech off)
Now it seems Wenger will forever go on about this penalty. Moaninho, Wenger and Taggart are the sorest losers I've ever come accross, and quite frankly, no-body's listening anymore.

Penalty....thought he went leaning in looking for it (as he does!)when he could have stayed on his feet and maybe tried to score, would have served his club better doing so.
However, if that was the other end there is now doubt any lfc player would have done the same, and i'd be screaming for a pen.
More often then not, there given, so yea for me a pen, unlucky for the gunners.
Alot of ordinary performances from individuals in the Arsenal team, playing the ball infront of/accross our defense, not penetrating as much as u wud have liked.
However, as usual, Arsenal underachieve in Europe, at the moment great team, lets be honest. In the last 2/3 years they have lost Bergkamp, Pires, Vieira, Ljungberg, Campbell, Cashley, Henry, not many teams could recover from that.
Manager is a good guy essentially with a way for spotting talent, and getting them to play really excellent football the majority of the time...respect.
But you gooners have to realise that we are decent in europe, for whatever reason, and i thinked ur even more p'd off cos the game went exactly as you knew it probably would, bums to the wall, away goal, happy kop.
Think you are shaky at the back too tbh, missing Sagna, poor against Bolton, and correct me if i'm wrong, we hardly attacked, 1 shot on target, 1 goal, gives me confidence big time, under pressure is a real test fr ur defense.
We have good experience in europe too, not just from years ago, but in the recent past too, we are the most experienced team left in the comp, re europe, so this type of performance is necessary to continue the run.
It will be difficult for you now, you haven't experienced the kop on euro nights, it is different, and difficult, you could go through but it will have to be your best performance of the last 2/3 years.
These games are wicked, the cream of europe, with the world watching,
I genuinely fancy us to go through, but best of luck.
