Spurs eye £6 million former Liverpool star

According to reports in today's Mail on Sunday, Tottenham are interested in Portsmouth keeper David James.

It is no secret that Spurs boss Juande Ramos is keen on adding a new keeper to the Spurs ranks with Paul Robinson currently way out of form and James is attracting the Spaniard's attentions.

James, 37, has been at pompey for a season and a half now after leaving Manchester City back in 2006. He has previously played with Liverpool, Aston Villa and West Ham and has over 35 caps for his country.

I would be very surprised to see Spurs spend money on someone like James. I can't deny he has been very good over the past few years but I don't see Ramos spending 5 or 6 million on a player that realistically has two, maybe three seasons left before he retires.

James' contract expires in the summer so I can't see us signing him for 5 or 6 mill. 5 or 6 pence would be too much, we've got enough calamity keepers at ther Lane already thanks!!!

Are they letting five year olds make up transfer rumours? Coming up with a random 5 or 6m price for a player out of contract? You must enjoy looking like a fool.

Just to put it all straight....James has a contract PAST this summer (see Redknapp's comments today) and there is NO WAY IN HELL, spurs would ever pay 5 or 6 million for a keeper who is well over thirty. Amelia, the Livorno keeper is much more likely.

So who ever wrote this article please stop wasting people's time brandishing about figures that have come from nowhere.
