Premier League games abroad is not the answer

Today the Premier League announced it's plans to start making Premier League games playing one game on foreign soil a season and in my view that is not the answer.

The Premier League is a huge thing throughout the world already with many foreign players coming to play in England, thus leading to more fans from around the world watching the games at home and indeed in the many stadiums across England.

The 20 Premier League clubs unanimously voted in favour of the decision the extend the league to 39 games with each team playing one game in either Australia, the United States or Asia.

This will see every Premier League team play each other twice with teams playing against one club a season three times and in my view that is not going to work. Picture this. If, lets say, Man United are to play Derby County three times in a season and Liverpool or Chelsea or whoever are to play each other three times in a season, that is clearly unfair.

On the other hand, You will have the fans from Premier League teams having to travel half way across the world to watch their team play. That will quite clearly cost a lot more money for the average season ticket holder.

I do also have to praise the Premier League today for finally deciding to allow top flight sides to name seven substitutes on the bench instead of the usual five.
