Spurs set to sign £9 million defender along with Woodgate !

Spurs are supposedly set to add another defender to their January introductions as Alan Hutton is closing in on a move to White Hart Lane according to reports on Sky Sports. Tottenham have already signed Chris Gunter and Johnathan Woodgate so far in this transfer window.

The 23 year old has been linked with the London club for some time now and it was reported earlier in the transfer window that the SPL side had rejected several bids from Juande Ramos.

However it appears now as though Spurs have upped their bid for the Scottish star to £9 million which is an offer just to irresistible for Rangers no to accept.

I think that Juande Ramos has succeeded in strenghtening the Tottenham defence with the introduction of Johnathan Woodagate and now it looks as though Hutton is joining too, a player who is in much demand from the top Premier League clubs.

if we get alan hutton and complete the signing of gilberto our defence will be much stronger, but at the moment our defence isnt doing too bad still making the mistakes, we need a left winger a keeper mabe another striker get rid of bent and get 2 amazing midfielders then we cAN COMPETE aginst the big teams and the top 4. so in other words we still need half a team

What an awful article. Any research, however little, would have revealed that £8m was enough to tempt Rangers and that the blocking party is Hutton himself. Rangers want him to leave so they can pocket the cash and strengthen their own team, something Spurs are not giving them much chance to do by signing him on deadline day - if indeed he signs. Which, for the record, I don't think he will.

There is no doubt we need fresh blood in defence, Woodgate if he can stay fit is a great aquisition, Hutton if he can muster interest (i'm not sure his heart is in it) in playing for would be a very good sighning.

Has played well for 6 months, is good going forward, if you call bombing forward then diving good, but a shocking defender.
