Second full-back in a week turns down chance to play for Spurs!
Ajax defender Urby Emmanuelson has become the second full-back in the last week to turn down Premier League side Tottenham.
Rangers defender Alan Hutton also turned down the club last week after Rangers had accepted a £8 million bid from the London club.
Emmanuelson had previously stated his desire to play for the club but he admits since talking with Ajax legend and indeed Spurs midfielder Edgar Davids in recent days he has changed his mind.
"Edgar told me it was a great club, but that I should not join Spurs," he told Sportweek magazine."He said to me 'you are an Ajax player, you are young and talented, so you only need to go to a top club in England, Spain or Italy'."I have thought about what he said and I think he is right."
I have to admit it is a pity that Emmanuelson won't be joining Spurs because I really think he has the ability to take the Premier League by storm. I have seen and heard a lot of good things about Urby and I would advise you to all watch out for him in the coming months.

top players go to top clubs shallow fans increasethe popularity of top clubs, smaller clubs go into adminitration and fold, and one day we will end up with four teams in the premiership the obsessional egos of players will ruin the sport..as it will no longer be "sport"

Urby Emmanuelson is an exciting player who in addition to his excellent defending qualities spends many minutes near the penalty box of his opponents scoring or trying to score goals. But the issue here he is taking and following the advice of a team mate who had played for Tottenham. The advice unfortunately is not in favour of Tottenham and I thought Emmanuelson is old and wise enough at 21 to make his own decision. After all, Tottenham thus far this season have scored more goals than any other team in the premiership meaning they have an awesome attack force, but at the same time have conceded far too many goals, the vast majority of which were unnecessary soft and silly goals due in part to the long list of sidelined defenders because of injuries. Emmanuelson should have realised that with his inclusion and other new defenders Tottenham would achieve new feats and become a major European football club, let alone becoming a top English club.
