Pompey complete the signing of Arsenal midfielder

Diarra agrees Pompey move

According to Sky Sports, Arsenal midfielder Lassan Diarra has agreed to join Portsmouth and has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal at Fratton Park after the clubs agreed a £5.5 million deal.

The French international only joined Arsenal back in August from London rivals Chelsea but has failed to nail down a first team place, leading to him asking Arsene Wenger for a transfer.

Diarra was linked with several other clubs including Newcastle, Tottenham, Blackburn, Everton and Manchester City but Pompey were the only ones who officially met the asking price of Arsenal.

I feel Diarra will be a fantastic addition to the Pompey side who have lost a number of midfielders last week due to the African Nations. Diarra has shown his class during Arsenal's excellent Carling Cup run and I believe he was never really given a real chance at Arsenal but you can't blame Wenger because he already has Flamini and Fabregas playing terrific football.

im actullay a bit dissapointed that diarra has left...i feel he is a good player. I cnt believe he is trading being joint top of the league and playing champions league football for a club that is struggling to make it into the uefa cup. But apparently we have almost signed sum guy from Marseille?? Maybe he is a replacement??
