Liverpool target £12 million Spurs striker !

Liverpool could be set to make an approach for Spurs striker Darren Bent according to reports in the Daily Telegraph.

Bent joined Spurs only last year for a fee of £16.5 million pounds so his new rumoured price tag of £12 million does explain his rather eventless time at the club.

As a Liverpool fan myself, in the words of Peter Kay I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole. I think he is an average player and that The Reds would be much better off with the likes of Huntelaar or if we were to splash out a bit more cash, David Villa.

I think that if Rafa was to sign the England international it could result in even more speculation over the Spaniards future at the club.

I love the way that first comment is written as a threat with a sense of 'ner ner ner ner ner' for effect. No doubt Bent did a fantastic job at Charlton as their star man but he aint had a chance at El Spurs because we didn't need him in the first place. Perhaps a swap for say Torres could be arranged? :-)

Bent was a huge waste of money - being a Spurs fan I was gutted that we spent so much money on him when we were in such dire need of a decent left winger and a quality defensive midfielder.

If we get rid of him for £12mill then I reckon thats a good price seeing as he's done absolutely sod all since he arrived!

Sorry what? In the words of Peter Kay? He was the first to say "I wouldn't touch that with a barge pole"? Are you mental?

Bent has proven his calibre in the Premiership with good goalscoring statistics for a mediocre Charlton Athletic. His problem with Spurs is that he was a bit part player who never got a run in the team and seemed to enjoy the last few minutes of most games due to Martin Jols ineptitude at making tactical decisions. If Bent does find a manager with belief in his abilities to score more goals . Watch this space Kevin Keegan may just surprise Liverpool by outbidding them for Bent.

i think you're a bit stupid to say you wouldnt touch the highest scoring english players 2 years in a row with a barge pole!

if u mean for the fact that u have fantastic strikers in torres and crouchy then fair enough i agree but bent is anything but rubbish. and spurs are fools for not giving him a proper chance. i dont think a club needs for strikers anyway they shouldve kept defoe as back up and sorted out their defense with that money. Benty couldve gone somewhere else and got regular football!
