Villa line up Spurs strikers

It has been rumoured on the Telegraph website that Aston Villa are looking to sign either of Tottenham's English strikers Jermain Defoe or Darren Bent.

Both strikers are said to be unhappy at the lack of first team football at the club and have been heavily linked with a move away come the opening of the January transfer window.

The Englishmen have been behind in the pecking order at White Hart Lane with the presence of Dimitar Berbatov and club captain Robbie Keane. Both players figured recently in England's 3-2 defeat to Croatia, which poses the question, why they can get in their national team and not even start for their club.

Juande Ramos has hinted in previous weeks that he may be forced to off load one if not two of his four hitmen in order to supply funds to strenghten his underachieving Spurs side.

Villa are said to be in the market for a new striker come January despite the good form of Gabby Agbonlahor and John Carew.

It is likely that Martin O'Neill will have to cough up as much as £10.5 million on either of the two, even though the London club signed Bent for £16.5 million only last Summer. I would personally chose Defoe over Bent but that's just my opinion... what do you think?

regardless of your opinion it is a lot of tosh to start with.

Since Ramos installed as Spurs manager both players are playing more regularly than they did under Jol.

Defoe is on the verge of signing a new deal according to ramos and himself and Bent is enjoying a regular run of games lately and why should Spurs lose £6 million on a 23 years old England striker?

Whole things is utter tosh i am afraid.

If either to go it wont be Villa they are too good to be wasted in a run your guts out fitness merchant no skill allowed managers team.

I dont mind Villa tbh, they have a good history, but are unfashionable and come across as a little dull compared to Spurs so cant see it happening.

and i doubt they would want to move to the midlands having lived in London.
