United set to sign Toon star !

West Ham are set to make an approach for Newcastle defender Stephen Carr in the January transfer window according to reports in the News of the world yesterday.

Carr, 31, has made 73 appearances for the Toon Army since joining in 2004. However this season he has struggled a bit to get his place, even when fit, with solid performances from Habib Beye in the same position.

It is thought that West Ham are going to make an approach for the supposedly unhappy right back and that The Hammers are going to have to make an offer somewhere between £1 million and £2 million for the former Republic of Ireland international.

    Adios ... who cares?

He's rubbish. He was poor for Spurs He's been diabolical for the Toon.
One of Sir Bobby's bad signings.

He can't go passed a defender, Which makes him a very predictable full back in attack. All good full backs can run passed thir winger and get in a good cross. Carr passes from just beyond the halfway line and always has.

one of the Toon boo-boys commenting there (toonlad)

Steve is a solid pro whose had good games for Newcastle and bad games when everybody was playing badly, one of the scapegoats for booing fans...

wouldn't mind him staying and competing with Beye for a starting place, fair play if he goes, its not nice to play for the unappreciated (toonlad) fans, who'll boo you from the first obstacle

He's not as bad as people claim but he's still not good enough really and Beye is much better in his position.

Given his injury problems we'll be doing well to get any money for him, and it has to be said that the Hammers would do better playing Nobby at right-back.

In defence of SBR, Aaron Hughes was a good pro but i don't think he was any better than Carr, although he did stay fit more.
