Rooney and Hughes rewarded for fine October
Manchester United's Wayne Rooney and Blackburn's Mark Hughes have today both been awarded with the Premier League's player and manager of the month awards respectively.
Rooney was rewarded for scoring four goals in three games in what turned out to be a terrific October for both Rooney and United.
The bad news for Rooney though is that he won't be in the running for Novembers award after picking up an ankle injury that will keep him out for up to a month. Blackburn boss Mark Hughes had a great month leading his side to three consecutive victories over Tottenham, Birmingham and Reading.
Obviously both awards were well deserved and Blackburn can only hope that this doesn't change their side's form. Blackburn have only lost once this season and ly sixth in the table and a lot of credit has to go to Hughes.
Obviously the news of Rooney's injury is terrible news for United because he has already missed a chunk of the season due to a different injury and it's a real shame he won't be able to carry this months form into November.
