Bruce set for Wigan post

According to some leading English newspapers, Birmingham City have given manager, Steve Bruce, permission to speak to Wigan Athletic about the possibility of becoming manager at the JJB. Bruce's Birmingham future has been talked about all season because of the potential new investors and he is rumoured to be unhappy with the whole thing and looking for a move.

According to the Daily Star:

Blues chairman David Gold, co-owner David Sullivan and managing director Karren Brady held an emergency board meeting this afternoon to discuss Wigan's approach.

The club are making no official statement but it is believed Bruce has been given the green light to hold talks with Whelan about becoming Chris Hutchings' replacement.
If this news is true, it doesn't surprise me one bit. I think Bruce needed to join Wigan before Dave Whelan had brought in someone else and then Bruce would have to face the possibility of getting the sack in the near future. It has been widely speculated that Bruce will almost triple his earnings should he join Wigan.

Bruce spent a very short time as Wigan manager back in 2001. He was appointed Crystal Palace manager after just a few games at Wigan. I am really intrigued to find out wheter or not Wigan fans are happy with this appointment or not. Because I was watching Sky Sports News the other day and I heard a mixed review from most Latics supporters, so please do let me know.

As a Wigan fan I'd be quite pleased to see Bruce come in. He has ambition and has done some positive things for Birmingham.
I'd much rather see Bruce appointed over the other candidates for the role. The club needs someone to drive it forward and instill some belief back into the squad and due to this I think Bruce is the best appointment.
Also, he is the only candidate who hasn't been sacked + the Birmingham players don't want him to leave...
