Nicky hit with fine
Birmingham's English midfielder Nicky Butt has been charged by The FA following his sending off at Portsmouth. The midfielder who is on a season long loan from Newcastle has been found guilty of breaching FA Rule E3 for using abusive and/or insulting words towards a match official. Butt was sent off on Saturday playing away from home against Portsmouth for kicking out at Pompey striker Dario Silva, the kick was alerted to the reffere by his line's man and he was shown the red by Dermot Gallagher.
The former Manchester United star was seen on camera verbally abusing the assistant referee as he left the pitch as he had alerted official Dermot Gallagher to Butt's kick on Dario Silva. The 30-year-old has until 6pm on Tuesday to respond to the charge and his case will be heard on Tuesday September 27.
I saw the incident on Saturday and it did look as though Butt did lash out at Dario Silva and he did warrent a red card, but Silva did back into him and he was booked. I personally don't think should appeal against the decision because that could lead to an even bigger fine.
