Defoe strike lifts Tottenham to fourth

Tottenham have tonight beaten Fulham by a single goal at White Harte Lane to lift them to fourth in the Premier league. Tottenham started brightly forcing great saves out of Fulham keeper Tony Warener, most notably the save to keep Egyptian striker Mido's effort out. Jermain Defoe opened the scoring on seven minutes when he latched onto the long ball from Ledly King but Fulham boss Chris Coleman was furios at the ref because he felt Defoe was off side.

Fulham's most notable chance came when their Danish midfielder Claus Jensen hit the bar after a sweeping move from his team mates. Steed Malbranque was Fulham's most dangerous player, the Frenchman causing havoc down the Spurs left. Spurs' win saw them jump five places to fourth, nine points behind Chelsea. The defeat left Fulham just one place above the relegation zone, two points above bottom-placed Everton. Final score Tottenham 1-0 Fulham.

Good result for Tottenham after last Tuesday when they were defeated by the mighty Grimsby but the result for Fulham now leaves them fourth from bottom. On the course of ninty minutes I thought Tottenham deserved the win but Fulham didn't play to bad at all.
