Cole won't give up on tapping up fine
Arsenal left back Ashley Cole will continue to challenge his fine for the alleged tapping up of Chelsea over the summer. The England international was left devastated by the decision of the Premier League to hand down a fine after he had been found guilty of holding illegal talks over a move to Stamford Bridge.
Although the fine was reduced on appeal, Cole will not give up his fight to be declared innocent of wrongdoing and will take his case to the Court of Arbitration in Sport (CAS).
A statement from the player's solicitor, Graham Shear read: "I can confirm that an appeal to the decision of the Football Association Premier League (FAPL) has been lodged, on Ashley Cole's behalf, with the Court of Arbitration in Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, Switzerland.
"We hope that CAS will hear the appeal in the next few months."
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and chief executive Peter Kenyon were also fined for their part in the incident - with the former's penalty reduced from £200,000 to £75,000 on appeal.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger had urged Cole to stop the pursuit of clearing his name and concentrate on playing, but the England international appears determined not to let the case drop.
I personally believe Cole should give up his case and pay the fine handed to him, after all it was already reduced so he should be happy with that. Cole earns enough money and this fine is only shillings for him. It has also been proving that Cole held talks with Chelsea so why is he appealing again. I think everyone should just do what their told, pay the fines, and get on with their lives. Cole is a good player and I believe he should stay at Arsenal.
