Manchester City have today made an appeal against defender Nedum Onuoha's red card pick up in their League Cup second round defeat against Doncaster. Onuoha was red carded in last nights game but were told by a representative of referee Graham Salisbury that it would be rescinded. But only the Football Association can make such a decision and City have to go through the procedure of appealing to overturn the sending-off.

The FA will make a decision on Friday prior to City's game at Newcastle. City boss Stuart Pearce said: "After watching the replays, it is an embarrassing decision. "Nedum is not a malicious player and if you look at it, he has actually done the keeper a favour by keeping his studs down, so it ended up being a clash of knees."

I saw the incident last night and I have to say that the fould didn't even warent a yellow card let alone a red. The decision totally changed the game and in the end it made City lose the game. I felt City were hard done by the ref because I don't think Doncaster's penalty decision was right either, but I do believe City should have been able to kill the game off earlier.
