  • Man City 0-0 West Brom. Scorers, Man City: n/a. West Brom: n/a. I beleive both managers will be resonablly happy with a draw because Stuart Pearce was without two of his key defenders and Bryan Robson got a draw away from home.


  • Portsmouth 0-2 Tottenham. Scorers, Portsmouth: n/a. Tottenham: Talyor(og),Defoe. Martin Jol will be very happy with winning all three points away from home against Portsmouth.

  • Sunderland 1-3 Charlton. Scorers, Sunderland: Gray. Charlton: Bent(2),Murphy. Alan Curbishly will be delighted with this win because last season his teams away form was appauling.

  • West ham 3-1 Blackburn. Scorers, West Ham: Sheringham, Reo-Coker, Etherington. Blackburn: Todd. Alan Pardew will be dilighted with his sides win in their first game since they were promoted to the Premiership.


  • Middlesborough 0-0 Liverpool. Scorers, Middlesborough: n/a. Liverpool: n/a. Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez will be disapointed that his side didn't gain all three points after Middlesborough's defender Ugo Ehiogu was sent off with twenty minutes left.
